@cheungt87 Exactly 🙂 I personally don’t love wearing a watch while sleeping either, so I wanted Sleep Island to work even without one.
Apple Watch support is still there for people who want more data, but it’s not required.
@jameswhitfield Thank you, James! That was one of the main principles behind Sleep Island: the basic experience should still be useful without pushing users into a subscription.
And yes, not having to wear a smartwatch to bed was very important to me too. Lifetime Premium is also free until June 28 for anyone who wants to unlock everything.
@repairtracks ¡Muchas gracias, Oner! 🙌
Esa era justo la idea: crear una alternativa sencilla para dormir mejor sin depender siempre de un wearable. Me alegra mucho que te parezca útil.
Hi StartupBase! 👋
I'm the creator of Sleep Island. I built this app because I had a very specific bedtime problem that existing sleep apps couldn't solve.
I've always needed background sound (rain, waves, or wind) to fall asleep. But I hated standard sleep timers. If I set a 30-minute timer and was still awake, the sudden silence immediately jolted me back to full alertness. If I let the sound play all night, my ears felt tired and my battery drained.
What I wanted was simple: the sound should stay with me while I’m awake, but slowly and imperceptibly fade out only after I fall asleep. And most importantly, I wanted to track my sleep without having to wear a smartwatch to bed every night.
So, I decided to learn Swift and build it. Sleep Island tracks sleep watch-free using your phone's motion sensors placed on the mattress, and triggers a slow, 5-minute volume fade-out when it detects you're asleep. (Though it also syncs seamlessly with Apple Watch & HealthKit if you prefer wearing one!)
After launch, my first App Store review was a brutal 1-star complaining that there was no snoring tracker. I took that feedback to heart and built a local, battery-friendly, threshold-triggered recorder for snoring and sleep talk.
Sleep Island is completely free on iOS with no ads. I built it for my own nights, but I hope it helps anyone else looking for a calmer bedtime.
I would love to get your feedback on the sleep-detection threshold and what sounds you'd like to see added next!
Happy sleeping! 🌧️💤
This sounds incredibly fun for both casual gamers and streamers! Combining computer vision for screen analysis with real-time voice banter is a huge step up from standard text-based bots. How is the latency when processing fast-paced games? Also, do you support custom Twitch/YouTube integration so the AI can react to live chat events in real-time?
I really like the idea of using conversational AI to cut through review spam and find product recommendations. Real-time review analysis is tough to get right—how does the assistant verify that the reviews it parses are genuine and not paid or fake? Also, does it support comparing prices across multiple retailers for the recommended items?
This is a great concept! Flight deal alerts are usually so delayed that the best seats are already gone by the time you receive them, so a 20-minute average alert time is a massive advantage. How does the AI distinguish between genuine price drops and system glitch/error fares? Also, is there support for setting up custom home airport notifications?
@chairup Thanks, Cheerup! 🙌 Really glad you like the idea.
