I’ve been working as a pool tech for about a year now, and it didn't take long to realize that most pool software is either prehistoric or looks like a childish toy.
Most of the apps like PoolMath is just a wall of text that’s impossible to use in the sun, and the basic apps don't track half of what I actually need. I got tired of jumping between three different apps just to do some math, and I was sick of my phone's camera roll being a clutter of 500+ "before and after" pool pics mixed in with my personal photos.
I’m a developer, so I finally just decided to build the tool I actually needed: FlowBeacon.
Predictive stuff: After logging data for a few weeks, the app helps you find the "Golden Ratio" for a pool. I've reached the point where I don't even have to look at the water, I know exactly what to dump in before I even test the water.
Upload Images/Video: Photos and videos are saved to the pool history, not your Google Photos. You can even use a pic of the pool as the avatar so you know exactly which pool you’re servicing. In case you forgot.
Inventory that works: It tracks what’s actually in the shed at each pool and auto-fills a shopping list when you're low.
No menu bloat: I added a "Quick Add" function so you aren't clicking through three submenus just to log a chemistry reading.
I built this for the techs who are tired of "Engineer-UI" and for the DIYers on Reddit who are nerdy enough to want pro-grade analytics.
