Working with US agent rosters at scale made one thing obvious: nobody publishes a real count of working real estate agents. Licence totals overstate (many licensees don't practise), association totals measure dues, and neither breaks down by city or brokerage. Realty Census counts the agents you can actually find — the ones with a profile on a brokerage site — on a fixed date, and publishes the number with its method. 493,081 in September 2026.
